Drive Up Event offering safe, in-person access to Utility Bill Assistance, Rental Assistance, VITA Tax Preparation Assistance and Home Mortgage Assistance. This event will take place on June 11, 2021 from 8:30AM-1PM. Event is located in Berkeley Electric Cooperative Awendaw Location’s Parking Lot. Eligibility guidelines & document requirements listed in event page posts. Please come in vehicle, with mask & all required documents. Drive Up service will be available.

Utility Bill and Rental Assistance Eligibility Guidelines and Document Requirements:
- be a resident of Berkeley, Dorchester, or Charleston County
- legible valid SC state-issued picture ID for the application (with a current address)
- if anyone in the household is in the military, please bring proof of active duty or veteran status
- legible Social Security cards for all household members
- proof of income for everyone who lives in your home
- if the applicant has earnings or wages, they will need to provide their pay stub (examples are monthly, semi-monthly, bi-weekly, weekly, or daily)
- if the applicant receives Social Security, SSI, pension, or retirement, they will need their current benefit award letter
- proof of income includes but not limited to: TANF/AFDC, Monthly Utility Check, Unemployment insurance, alimony, monthly stipends, adoption subsides, child support, ect. If child support is paid voluntary, a signed statement from the payer must be presented.
- if it is court-ordered, then a statement from the court must be presented. If the applicant is receiving weekly unemployment insurance, a printout can be obtained at www.mybenifits.dew.sc.gov or by calling 1-866-832-1724
